Concepts
Databases, credentials, regions and the lifecycle of a database.
Database keys and document tokens
Database keys authenticate backends and CI to one database's HTTP API, with read, write or admin permission. Never ship them to browsers or apps: give end users document tokens instead, which reach one document for a few minutes.
Regions and clusters
A database lives on a cluster of Mimic servers in its region. Applications talk to the cluster directly, so the dashboard and management API are never on your app's data path.
Rotating keys
Rotating a key creates a successor with the same name and permission and keeps the old key working for an overlap window you choose, so you can deploy the new secret first.
Suspending and deleting
- A suspended database is read-only until it is resumed.
- A deleted database is blocked at once and kept for a grace period (seven days) during which it can be restored. Then its keys are revoked and its data purged.
